I get it, but it's totally irrational. It's got 4000 miles on it. As a ctf car, it was likely a hot mess quality-wise when it came off the line, especially if it was #1. It was likely wrenched on many times to retrofit various engineering updates. Those miles were probably applied by a couple dozen yahoo's giddy to take a hot lap. For collection purposes these are not characteristics I would prize...... I'd much rather have a virgin example of the actual production version with only my DNA on it.

So I just bought a blackwing that is Vin #1. But Barrett Jackson claims they sold a white Vin #1.

How do I confirm mine is legit. I bought it from GM direct through Barrett Jackson. It was from the GM driving school.

I really hope it's legit but maybe I'm missing something.

Thoughts?

Thanks guys...

First of all congrats!! I was in attendance at the Scottsdale BJ auction last year when they auctioned off #001 of the CT4 and CT5 Blackwings (165K and 265K respectively). Correct; the cars on-site were a white CT5VBW and a blue CT4VBW. My reading of the original verbiage about the auction was it gave the winner "the rights to own 001"......I didn't take it as being those specific vehicles since I thought they were pre-production models (I may be wrong). I am pretty certain production had not yet begun yet at the time of that auction. Curious as to the BJ response. I am in no way an expert on any of this stuff. I did secure #030 by going through the Cadillac website lottery process back in February 2021, and my VIN has an, "81", indicating automatic (No regrets - instant shifts at WOT). Not sure what 660 may be. Good luck and enjoy this beast! Glad I am back in a true V. You gotta love this thing. Martino

So if im not mistaken technically the #1 car is zero not #1

001 is 001 no matter what it has had done to it. Those things are part of it's provenance. It may not be the car desired by everyone, but it's still 001.
Plus i dont know how it would be number one makes no sense because i know 3 people that purchased BW-V cars last year so sum is wrong

Yo, I’m 100% the first letter/number of the vin means in which country the car was made. 1 is USA.

I don’t understand how you bought a #1 from GM thru BJ and then BJ is saying they sold a different #1. I’d be going to BJ and having them explain how they sold 2 #1 vins

If you bought this from the GM driving school, does that mean that it has been tracked? If so, was it tracked during the break in period? You might want to check with GM to see if the car has a valid warranty. The ATS Vs that were tracked right after being built were sold without a valid warranty. Can you can even buy a non GM warranty for the vehicle?
I have seen corvettes that had voided warranties from the factory but with that said the op’s car has full coverage I just ran it through Gm global and did a vin inquiry. Also here is the the listed Order type on this car- Order Type: 10 - P.E.P./SPL EVENT

You buy it with around 9k mikes on it ?

Pre production is just that. Not production and it would be Non Saleable.
CTF or captured test fleet would be an early production vehicle and would be a saleable vehicle. These vehicles are driven by GM executives and other assigned drivers typically for 5k to 7.5k miles

Perhaps that was the wrong label, but this apparently was a saleable car.

What’s interesting is the car has a warranty start date of 8/4/21
Built in May 21 and look at the service history dates while it was in Michigan still .

1 thing I can say about this forum is that the dedication & desire to help other Caddy owners, is unprecedented as it is on the other forums I'm on. All the replies are helpful in their own way & I hope my response doesn't take away from anyone else's. A few mos., back, a long time friend purchased a very limited edition 2021 Silverado that was then sent to an aftermarket customizer in another part of the country. After a very lengthy delay on delivery, it turned out that 1 of the additional accessories that was to have been added, frt view assist camera & monitor, was not installed. Truck ret'd to the original dealer who subsequently sublet it to a local 'customizer', who kept it for another 3 mos., & left the wiring harness and system install 1/2 ass completed. All attempts to locate the allegedly factory installed harness, control unit & sensors, revealed that the sensors were dummy blanks, the control unit was never installed because the OE build sheet specified rear camera assist in gate handle only and there was no harness that would allow for the frt camera to be simply plugged in. Long story short, I searched & found GM Upfitter, which will provide you w/ start to finish build specs on any GM vehicle post 2015, that doesn't have a factory build sheet in it (glove box, under spare tire cover, trunk lid, etc) with it when sold. All you need do is send an email w/ the info you require and the VIN & w/in 24 hrs., you'll receive an email w. the entire history of your vehicle. Mine was a total of 7 pages & it showed every single option code for this build and everything that was added at the aftermarket facility. Hope this helps you & anyone else that ever needs to find info on their 2015 & newer GM vehicle. BTW, there was no charge for their services & we had a 3-4 day exchange to clarify some of the not too clear items.

I’d be parking and covering that Bad boy! Until you’re 100% sure it’s #1. If it is, never uncover it again! Just mho

There are two models of the blackwing Ct5 and CT4 are u sure there was no confusion

I'm going to tag along on this one as it may get pretty interesting. I use to purchase material from GM including pre production material. As has been stated before this may have been a special occasion with GM because if what it it but when I was dealing with them none of the pre production vehicles or materials were ever to be sold to the general public. The VINs of these vehicles were never entered in to the national database. I am also a dealer just for S&G I plugged the VIN in my software and everything loads up. This would not happen with a normal pre production vehicle. I am curious to see how all of this shakes out.

So, "pre-production" may not be the correct term (though it is being called that in some descriptions), but it is optioned as an "evaluation vehicle" (RPO OAR).

There is also a 10 speed auto CT5-V evaluation vehicle that the VIN ends in 001 (though part of the VIN before that is slightly different than the OP's which is a manual). It is electric blue and owned by a member of another forum according to some posted information.

So, it looks like there are multiple "001" cars out there characterized by various attributes of production. Not confusing at all. ;)

The first C8 Corvette Z06 that recently sold for over $3 million on Barret Jackson was a place holder, the actual car #1 will be special ordered when production starts someday.
