Be careful out there. Was driving the beast last night for an errand and when I was starting out from a 4 way stop, a guy in a Hummer blew the stop sign and almost t-boned me on the passenger side. Very close call.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Be careful and enjoy your time with your family.

Glad it didn't happen as it could have.

Do you have your PDR set up to record on startup? I do and use it as a dash cam.
I did not opt for the PDR. And I have not set up a dash cam yet. I have it in our other vehicles. I should do it. Thanks for the poke!

The PDR is super cool but a good dashcam is just as good.
But the PDR has embedded telemetry that can be used with Cosworth Toolbox or other Cosworth tools. :) Very nice that it came with the Navigation package on the regular V.

Oh, no fear everyone is enjoying the pics just fine. They may not be as pleased with you having one to cavort about at will. While them ain't not. /:: ROTFLMAO emoji ::/

FWIW and BTW, those charmers are right at the same wb as my Impala SS, and would serve quite handsomely as an alternate to my quest for a 'gently owned' CT6, incidentally the same wb as my Fleetwood.

Yes I know that. I explained this on another thread but I will explain it again just so you know it was not a mistake. It is very intentional. So I know a thing or two about military airplanes and we will leave that statement as a stand alone. You can read between the lines as you wish. I have been a fan of the SR71 Blackbird since its first test flight. It was a technological marvel then and even now. It was the fastest non-rocket powered airplane ever made. Its only weapon system was outright speed and altitude. Not to mention it was and is simply the most beautiful master piece of design I have ever seen. Clearly I am a fanboy.

When I first attempted to get a 2019 CTS-V and failed because I was too late to the game to get one, I thought I would never get another shot at one. Then the CT5V Blackwing appeared that it was going to have a last hurrah and I was not going to miss this opportunity so I got in line asap. After going the through the journey to get mine in my hands, I wanted to name it. Since it is the craziest fastest Cadillac ever made, and I am a fanboy of the car, I thought a little homage to my favorite plane would be appropriate. This is why I have the title for this forum I do. It is a mix of registrations of the SR71 and the Cadillac Blackwing names. One other tid-bit is in my license plate I have the name HABU as that is the internal call sign the CIA used to call the Blackbird in public. So on my custom license plate frame I have SR71 on the top and Blackwing on the bottom, but on the license plate is has HABU and the last three digits of my vin. It is so subtle that most won't realize it is even a custom license plate.

Does that clear things up for you? Happy Thanksgiving!

It sure does. BYW, the SR71s fuel tanks leaked while it was on the ground. It took the heat / friction of Mark 3 to get them to seal up properly.

Mach 2+ the fuselage grew over a foot from heat expansion. They were built mostly of Titanaium as as Stainless would melt from high temps of friction of air

Pilots refer to this as a 3 second plane....you had to scan the gauges every 3 seconds and adjust the throttles which also adjusted the engine nose cones.

This conversation led me to look up the docent who took me around the Udvar Hazy a few years ago. Leo was his name and I remembered his discussion about the Blackbird and that it leaked fuel while on the ground. That man loved aviation. Leo Weston passed away in late 2020: The Leo Weston Award for Excellence in Service to Aviation Safety – ARSA. What a life!

(Can this thread get any further derailed?)

I think it is enjoyable to let the conversation flow to where people find it interesting. Actually relating my beast to the SR71 and the conversation that might come from that relationship was what I was hoping might be stirred. All good clean fun.
