Black Window Trim Oxidizing ??

1437 Views 10 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  EDBSO
Im not sure what its called ?
Its the black strips of trim about 3in wide that seperate the front and the rear side windows.

Im picking up my 2001 STS tomorrow, and want to know if there is specific way to care for that area so as to prevent them from oxidizing.

Those strip on my 93 turned a Mother Of Pearl color, (looked like an oil slick),
and was very annoying. :rant2:

Anyone know what the cause could be and or how to prevent it from happening again ?

Those are the B pillars that are discoloring due to the surfactants in aggessive detergents used in car washes. You need to use my paint cleaner and then follow up with my sealant to prevent that from happening. Once you clean and seal them you need to keep an eye on them with regular applications to protect the finish. go here ...........www.perfectautofinish.com

Regular applications of what ?
Both the paint cleaner And the sealant ?

Before I even consider purchasing anything from you I would like to be able to contact the manufacturer to see a copy of the products sheet and or a MSDS.
I would like to know the components of any product before I apply it to my vehicle.
I believe that that is a right and is to be expected from any supplier of any kind of product.

Regular applications of a "paint cleaner" on any kind of automotive finish, (wether OEM or Refinish makes me weary).

Is probably a good time to mention that my wife works for PPG Canada, and has been for just over 14yrs. Has been quite active in there world wide marketing, refinish, and training centres. Her father was also employed there for over 28yrs.

I have to tell you that anyone who knows "Anything" about the care and maintanance of their vehicles finish
Any Tom, Dick, or Mary for that matter, who may even "half" care about the care and finish of their vehicles
Would not, and "should" not, purchase and apply a product without first knowing that they can, and are able to find out from the actuall manufacturer the specifics of that product.

Anything less is ludacrious.

If I am considering purchasing a product. And the supplier of such, is not able, and or willing, to give me information so as to acquire data and or specifics from the manufacturer; as to chemichal compounds, hazards, usage, etc......:hmm:

"Here" you refer to it all as being Your cleaner and Your sealer.
But appeared also to be the same in your site.
I did not see on your site as to whom it is that manufactures your products.
You neglect to mention that.

Makes me wonder why ?

I am very sorry my friend:
But with the way that technoligy has advanced and has made it so much easier to reach out and beyond the larger borders of our communities, without even having to leave the confines of our own homes.
How it has made it so much more accesible to the "nieve" of the "Whole" world.

We all must be on our gaurd.

I hope that you do not take this as being personal. :want:
But take it more along the lines of professional critisism.

Think about it
Would "you" buy anything from anyone just because they talk a good talk and walk a good walk. But would not divulge information that would make you a more educated and informed consumer ?

Who makes the products you supply?
Whats in them?
What are the specs?

Why will you not say ?

If what you use is truelly the superior product, and you "are" able to offer it for less than any one else can. (As you continue to say).
Then why not give the consumer the full information so as to make there own educated decision.

For if what you say is true
Then no doubt they will come to you.

Sounds kinda like a knock off of "If You Build It They Will Come", doesnt it.

But its still true eh.

Who Makes Your Products ?:thepan:

To The Mods And Admins Re: My Posts In This Thread

My posts and my replies in this thread are not in any way to try to discredit claims and or statements posted by "turbomangt".
In no way am I trying to stir things up or bring things on.
I have read his threads and his posts and have accessed the links he has attached to them.
I feel that if he is allowed to promote his business/products within the threads, then it would stand to reason to be able to ask questions, and question him about the same within those same parameters.
I do not feel that I have made any statements, or asked any questions, that any consumer interested in purchasing any product, should consider and or ask of the sales representitive that they are comunicating with.
"turbomangts'" advertising has been allowed.
So questioning of his products as well as his advertising techniques should also be.
