Has anyone else noticed that the black plastic trim around the manual shifter has become sticky with age? This looks similar to a rubberized coating I have on an older Microsoft mouse with the same symptoms. What's the resolve aside from replacing it with something new from GM?

Yeah, it happens and is annoying. Some folks in the V forum have taken the "goo" off (Goo Gone or WD40 or whatever) and then painted it. The plastic underneath is actually pretty glossy, so if you don't use some destructive technique to get the rubber coating off, you can just use some Plastix or other plastic polish to clean it up. Or you could get some vinyl wrap in your chose of colors/textures and change up the look that way.
