Picked up the car yesterday. Super excited. Will take a while to learn about all the electronic doodads and toys. It's painfully hard to drive it around like a minivan - can't wait till 1500 miles.

I floored the car the first day I had the damn car. The more you baby these cars, the easier they break. Nothing is gonna happen to the engine.
This has been debated on many forums and you can find equal numbers in each camp. The engines are run at the factory for longer than you would think, so they are not completely green.

I am of the camp that a break in period is not necessary.

Smoke if you got em!

Pics to come after a complete detail and wax next week. Too much pollen in Atlanta now for it to look good at the moment! I will not baby it completely, boost gauge will move, but I doubt I will be wide open throttle anytime soon.......

I believe that the break-in period is primarily for the differential, transmission and brake parts to get used to each other, not the engine. It's easier to break in a manual transmission car, even in a city environment, because you can run the rpm up and down in the lower gears without too much speed, although with the "V" you will need to watch the speedometer because the car is sneaky fast. After 500 miles I would do just that, but at higher speeds.

Congrats on the new ride!

I have had my 11 V Sedan for about a month now. I tried to vary the RPM for the first 500 miles and keep it below 5k but after that I have just been driving it the way it was meant to be driven. I did change the oil at 500 miles but only because I found out it sat on the dealers lot since the summer.

Congrats on your wagon. I've got the same car being built the week of May 16th. I'm fired up! I think we're gonna have a pretty rare machine on our hands. I'm a Chevy dealer and searched nationally and there was only one new stick wagon in dealer inventory in the US when I checked! And about the break-in, I'm a big believer in "Drive it like you stole it". Just my two cents......

I've got a Black Diamond CTS-V Wagon with the 6MT and everything else available except the roof rack sitting at the dealer's showroom as a favor so he can display it as a halo car. As I have several other cars, I gave him four weekends to use it for a "come on." I am looking forward to finally picking up and taking it on the Hot Rod Power Tour this year catching up with the Tour in Indianapolis. I took my 2010 CTS wagon on the Tour last year and it drew a lot of comments, all favorable. Now I have three wagons, the 2010 CTS and the 2011 V in the Midwest and a 2011 CTS wagon out in L.A. I guess I like the Cadillac wagon and I will be sad to see them disappear in 2014. I'm guessing that there won't be more than twenty or thirty of the Black Diamond 6MT built and depending on the options on those cars a few will only be ones of one or two. They could be amongst the rarest modern Cadillacs ever built.

Do you really think there will be so many? I was thinking there would be more like 50 6MT Wagons built period!
I don't know that I would expect the BD to be the rarest color of 6MT Wagon though. I'm pretty sure that honor will go to Evolution Green- has anyone even heard of one?

I read someplace that when gen 3 V's come out there will not be a wagon in the mix. It wouldn't surprise me as the real halo car would be a V convertible. I'm guessing if resources are allocated for the gen 3 V's it will be more towards the convertible line than another wagon. I also understand that the gen 3 CTS line will get smaller. I'm dying to see what GM does for horsepower when the CAFE rules come in terms of engine size not horsepower. You can get a tremendous amount of horsepower through turbo charging so we could see 500 horsepower V-6 engines with twin turbos. Mind you, I'm not a fan of them compared to supercharging or naturally aspirated V-8's but I can see them coming in the future.

O.K., how many Black Diamond CTS-V 6 MT Wagons are out there? If you have one, what did you get as additional options? Has anyone ordered the roof rack option? As an aside, now that orders of the 2011 V Wagons have closed and perhaps production has concluded, I'm curious to know how many 6 MT Wagons of any stripe were built for the production year 2011?
