I finally recieved my Porter Cable 7424 polisher in the mail today and decided to do a rest run on the trunk to see what results I could get. My car is a 2006 CTS 2.8L, Black on Black. It has some swirls all over and its due for a full detail job.

Here is my process:

1. Wash with Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash/Dry with Megs Microfiber towel
2. Clay with Megs Clay bar and Quick Detailer Spray
3. Tape weatherstripping/rubber/Taillights
4. #80 Speed Glaze X 2 with PC/Remove with MF towel
5. #83 Cleaner/Polisher X 2 with P/C/Remove with MF towel
6. NTX Tec Wax by hand, X 2

It removed about 95% of the swirls, still left some of the heavy scratches but overall I am very pleased, need some time and energy to do the rest of the car.

Pics:
1.After wash, notice the swirls

2.After #80, night and day

Thanks, my friend has a silver Jag S-Type and that thing always looks clean and shiny, you have to look hard to find a scratch in his paint...

I spent about $130 on supplies (polishes, wax, Water magnet, polish for plastics, microfiber towels) and another $100 on the porter cable so $230total.

I did the whole car but it took me ALL day and another 2 hours the next day, Ill post pics when I wash her soon.

When I did the zaino treatment on my car it didnt remove the swirls completely. I think I need to use a buffer as I did it all by hand.

Hmmmmmm. On second thought Ill just have Kurt do mine!! BWAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAAHAHAHAHAHAh

Seriously though, I think i will buy a buffer. Any pointers for not burning my paint guys?

i was little worried about burning the paint too, but the porter-cable is so easy to use, i had no problems. just always keep the thing moving when it's touching the car, but that's a no brainer!:bigroll:
