Bet You Couldn't...

...name this part. It is part of the brake system, I've been losing brake fluid for some time now and is now getting to it. Other issues took precedence, so I put the brakes on the back burner. Anyway I had my guy take a look and the following is the description he gave. Brake fluid pools about 4-6 inches in front of the left rear wheel. He traced the line back to somewhere near the gas tank, the part in question is some sort of "adapter or coupler" that accepts a brake line that originates from the front of the car and from the other side of the "adapter/coupler" to the wheel. But beside the line from the front the is a "threaded nipple" that is missing a cap or plug, or ??? and is the source of the leak. What part is this part, and what's missing from it??

Sorry, maybe I was not clear here. The "threaded nipple" is a part of whatever it is. The threads are exposed, so whatever screws on there is misssing. And the threads are still clean, indicating it is relatively new.
I totally would take that bet, but I'm guessing you know that since you didn't wager anything. :alchi:
O>K> so if it is the proportioner valve...
what is missing from it?
do I need to replace the valve?
Post a picture.

I don't know. I am just guessing as that is the only thing I can think of that might resemble what and where you are describing. This is where a FSM would come in handy.
well if its a fitting in the rear of the car... and not by a wheel... its gotta be the proportioning valve, wouldnt you think?

the only other fitting type dealy that would have a set screw in it would be the bleeders but those are on the calipers themselves.
Well, I checked my manuals and there is no mention of a proportioning valve. I guess that was pre ABS. It says that rear brake proportioning is controlled by the ABS modulator. So much for that idea.
Go to dealer. See if srv mgr or srv writer will let you talk to brake mechanic. Actually srv mgr might know. (Some dealers will not let you near the mechanics.)
here's a pic, the "connector" in the middle springgs the leak.
