Hey guys.. i have a 04' caddy with regurlar stereo.. what kind of navigation units can i get..

I looked at the Pioneer Avic D1 and the Eclipse.

The Pioneer was cheeper and looked nicer. what are your thoughts.

I love the in dash look, i dont want flip up.

Are there any other companies that i could also look at?

I am getting ready to install the Kenwood Excelon DDX8017 it seems to be the best in dash dual din. You also have to add the Kenwood KNA-DV4100 which is the navigation addon for the headunit. If you look at crutchfield the two of them cost $2799!!!

I got mine for around $1900 at www.etronics.com which is a comparable price to the Eclipse & Pioneer. I have talked to many people that have told me that this Kenwood setup for nav is alot better than the alpine or eclipse. Plus you can add options like I did for sat radio, ipod, tv tuner, etc. I have been told that this unit can be setup where the dvd-video can play while driving, but I cant confirm that yet.

Ill post some pics, when I get done installing all of my stuff and give you guys some results. This will only work on 03 and up.... b/c 02 cannot fit a double din without modifications.

The 02 has a din + 1/2 if you want the kenwood setup ( the way to go if you ask me) then just get the kvt-817 setup with the kna-dv4100 navigation. Its the same system just that the head unit is an Excelon piece which means you get a 3 yr warranty instead of 1.

BTW the kenwood setup is the best w/ aftermarket nav's and stay away from Pioneer's avic-n1 (too slow, low memory, must have nav disc in slot b/c if you miss a turn you have to reprogram w/o the disc in).

Ive got the Kenwood ddx7017 double din and the Kna-dv4100 Nav system. Have had them both for about a month and they work great. I took out the 6-disc changer and pt the Nav there. Didnt need the changer since the head unit is wired to my Ipod that sits in the glovebox.

Did you have to have any special mounting hardware to put the Kna-dv4100 Nav system where your 6Disc changer was? How does it look? Can you post or email me a pic? I would like to install mine there!!! since my 6Disc changer is about to become useless!!

My brother has a pioneer. Personally I don't like it. There's two different displays for the screen and they both look like they came from a video game. I got an alpine cva1006 that I have had for 3 yrs. I think it is the best. Once the new Escalades come out I will sell it. When getting an aftermarket navigation it all depends on your style and what you want to do with it.

I've got the Pioneer Avic in my '02 EXT and love it. I replaced the six-cd changer with a separate DVD player and added a 17" drop down screen in back. That way I use the nav up front and the kids can watch a movie or play games in back at the same time. I also put a switch in so that I can switch from nav to watching the video playing in the other player & back again as I want. Also connected a back-up camera, Ipod hookup and voice module to the pioneer. Everything is great, though the voice setup probably isn't worth it for me.
