You probably got one of the latter vehicles produced...... They were prolly just trying to get them done and over with..... BUT, thats why you have a warranty.....

As far as fuel economy..... Gas mileage will suck until you get it to at least 5000 on the clock, and it should get progressively better as you go.......

That is true..... That should be the last thing you are concerned about....... Obviously, if you have a 55k car, you can afford to fill it up, even with premium......

And really, premium isnt really a big deal..... for 20 gallons it can be an extra 2-2.50..... pretty insignificant if you ask me!!!
