Battery Life

I had mine into the dealership last summer, about a year old and 12K miles, for three weeks. The battery died while they had it so they warrantied the battery. If I was buying a battery for a replacement I'd buy an Optima Red Top.

I have 49k miles on my '05. I had one battery issue around 30k miles, it was loosing charge (even went dead a few times, and had to pop the clutch, just like in college days ). Turned out the issue was the interior light slider switch on the overhead console. If it is pushed all the way to the botom, without actually clicking over to 'on', it would slowly drain the electrical system. The part was back-ordered for like 3 weeks, so as a fix the dealership replaced my battery, and put a piece of tape over the lower 1/3rd of the switch, so I wouldn't move it into the 'drain' zone. This is definately a 'known' problem (hence the backorder), however it doesn't seem to be very widely publicized on this board. Part came in, and was installed. 20k battery drain miles since.

The slider trick is worth a try.

P.S. The other known drain issue was the early year cars that didn't have their alarms set from the factory.

Dan, not to thread jack, but have you seen Bill, or herd from him? I was wondering what he may have choose to mod all up after he sold his V.

Mine was about a year old and one morning....dead battery. Jumped it....took it to the dealer and they tested it and found a dead cell. New one no problem under warranty. They told me a lot of batteries in all models are defective. New one works just fine.
