I have an SLS which has the standard base music system, I have a Bose minidisc head unit from an STS. I understand that the stereo is matched to the car and needs to be re-programmed when moving from 1 car to another but even if I do this will it work by just swapping the head unit?

Besides getting vin erased from new hu you have to swap everything else out. Speakers, amp wiring.... NOT an easy swap but has been done. If you find entire system to swap much easier. Dont forget wiring to fuse panel for amp. You really need wiring diagrams to do it properly.

Yes, I suspected that may be the case so i will be leaving that job, I just wanted the novelty of the minidisc, The system in the car now sounds great so not really worth the hassle of swapping everything.
