Hi guys ! I have a Deville 1994 and recently, I've been spending a lot of money on fuel ! I do about 300km and then have to full it up ... Is it normal ?! If not, do you know what's wrong ?! I'm no mechanic unfortunately so I do need your help ;)

Thanks a lot guys !

I would change or check the air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, even the screens in the cat converter in the exhaust could be plugged up. (but then you would probably notice a loss of performance), distributer cap and rotor, plug wires. What weight oil do you use, for example, 5w30 is thinner and therefore better on fuel than 10w40. (but I doubt this is your problem) The brakes could be dragging, or even your tires to low? What is the mileage on the car? Do you have a heavy foot or feel the need to race every Benz or Beamer around? :D

What's the fuel capacity of your car and what kind of mileage did you used to get?

I used to get around 400 to 425km instead of 300 ... it's quite a big difference in my opinion ! I dont have any idea of the fuel capacity ... sorry :(

Wow ... a lot of stuff here !! I dont know more than the half of what you just said ... The air filter is fine i just changed it ... fuel filter ... i dont know ! Spark plugs are brand new. I use 10W40 oil if you want to know ... The brakes are supposed to be new (when i bought the car, the owner told me they were new) and my tires are fine. For the last thing, well .... i used to have a heavy foot but i calmed down with that !

If the engine sounds and feels smooth, the first thing I'd do is run a couple tanks of injector cleaner and evaluate it again when you're done. I like Gumout's Regain.

Okay i'll try this out !! The easiest thing to do yet !!

I have to say thanks a lot for your answers I really appreciate it! :bouncy:
