The digital temp readout started going wacky on my 94 SLS ,so without pulling any codes I picked up a new temp sensor ($7) ,the only problem is that I cant seem to locate it under the hood . Ive looked in all of the common places and I dont really feel like buying a manual ,can any one help me wiht this? :worship:

What exactly was the digital temp readout doing? I believe eldorado1 is correct about the location of the temp sensor. Please give us details about how it was behaving that prompted you to change it.

the cad starts fine and the temp display is erratic on the temperature jump ,say from 85 to 175 then back to 100 and so on and within a minute or so of startup the the display flashes engine hot when the coolant is still cold and goes into "camel" mode.thanks for that location on the sensor ,I'll be checkin that tomorrow

Thanks for detailing the symptoms for us. Hopefully the new sensor will clear it up for you. Please do come back and let us know how it works out for you, or if you have any questions.

I got the same problem in the past. I killed two days to change the sensor and it was a bad computer after all. I found another 3 owners with the same computer problem (and it's interesting all of them have a 94). It's important: IF THIS ERRATIC READINGS HAPPENED ONLY WHEN ENGINE IS COLD, LESS THAN ~120F (~50C), OR ONLY IF ENGINE' TEMPERATURE IS HIGHER THAN ~120F (~50C) - IT'S DEFENETELY BAD COMPUTER. If it continue to be erratic after reaching 120F (in your case) it's probably sensor or wire short.
