Backup camera grid lines

Recently took delivery of my 2023 premium luxury Escalade. I noticed there are no grid lines on the backup camera when the car is put in reverse. Called dealer who was not aware of a fix and noted they would send an inquiry to GM.

Has anyone had similar issues? Has it been resolved? Seems like a serious safety and security issue on a car of this size. The height and width of this vehicle makes it challenging to rely on rear view mirror and the backup camera itself provides an augmented view which distorts the space/dimensions behind the vehicle. Thanks in advance to all responders.

Reporting again with some bad news

The cameras are malfunctioning again. The same exact issue as before the software update fix.

Vehicle is going back to the dealer...this makes me miss our x7 we never had any issues. Love the size of this vehicle but I hope I don't have a lemon. Vehicle only has 1500 miles now and this will be visit #2 since we took delivery.

Cadillac needs to hire better software engineers!

I have a '22 and got the update a few days ago as well. I didn't notice anything different after install and had no issues with the lines to begin with. It did say something about the lights so maybe it was the update for the DRL's to dim when headlights come on among other things.

Took a delivery of a 2023 Sport ESV Friday (1/13/23). No backup grid lines as described here. Reported back to the dealer. Will set up an appointment with the service department, but I am not sure what they can actually do about this. The automatic parking assist works amazing well, though. All the sensors and cameras appear clean and work well otherwise.

I posted back in October about the camera grid line issue. No resolution for us yet. We have had our 2023 Escalade for 3 months and my wife is still afraid to park it in a tight spot. I am honestly blown away that GM is struggling with the fix for this. It has definitely tarnished my buying experience. Get it fixed now!!

Between this and the lifter failures that just occurred on my 2020 Yukon XL Denali, my 2021 Sierra Denali, and the ticking noise that is coming from the lifters in my 2021 Yukon Denali, I am losing faith in GM.

Long shot …

Is this a screen option (at the bottom) anyone has toggled into making adjustments?

Definitely not an Escalade. The 23’s changed because of the surround video recording. Someone forgot to add the option. I see them on my screen but they’re gray and i have a blue hourglass like it’s stuck trying to download. It’s been this way since I bought it in September

Cadillac should be doing far more to address these issues. Given the complexity of the Escalade, especially when fully loaded with SuperCruise, their unwillingness to escalate work orders and get this fixed ASAP undermines trust in the company. Given the price point, along with their stated desire to reestablish themselves as "the Standard of The World", they have a LONG way to go...

I agree. I’ve been complaining ever since I found out. There’s even two videos on YouTube about it. I can’t believe this isn’t a priority. It’s just like the damn chips. My sister bought a truck and has been waiting for her chips for her heated seats and steering wheel almost a year. Yet there are brand new trucks on the lot with all those options available. Why are not the current customers a priority that already have vehicles??? It’s really burying the brand. It just doesn’t feel like they care. At least send a letter or email or something that they’re working on it.

Just picked up from the dealership after they replaced the video processor unit. Now I don’t have any grid lines anymore and I have the blue hour glass. The grid line option is greyed out.

Before I left the lot I showed the service advisor and also the tech that has worked on this issue. Post #34 I had issues immediately after taking delivery where non of my cameras would work.

This truck is probably a lemon lol. Anyone familiar with NY vehicle lemon laws. So frustrating!!!

2023 Escalade ESV PLux Platinum here. For our first few months of ownership, the disappearance of our backup grid lines has been intermittent and seemingly random, with no corrective action able to clear the fault. When they disappear, the selection buttons become inactive (grayed out) and cannot be reengaged, similar to what many others have described.

It seems to occur more frequently when driving in the dark (ie at night), but that could be purely coincidental. No other environmental factors (ie cold, hot, wet, etc) seem to affect whether or not the grid lines will fail. Selecting other vehicle modes, or restarting the vehicle, also do not seem to clear the issue. However, it always eventually resolves on its own, and the grid lines function normally for ~85% of the time. The randomness of the failures is most frustrating, especially when pulling into a confined parking lot only to put the car in reverse and see that the grid lines decided to disappear.

The vehicle software version is listed as last updated on 6 May 2022. Is anyone tracking a more recent software that's been pushed out that could be affecting this issue, or what the latest version number is?

Do you know which update and/or recall # it was? I am thinking the update I got OTA (N22235945) may be the same as the notice I got in the mail. Maybe the recall # is not the same as the actual update # though. If indeed it was one in the same, I couldn't even notice a difference in them after the OTA update which would validate my original statement above.

I’m in same boat now. Button to turn them on is not active.
