Just noticing it today, is this a common issue for it to cut in and out?, when its onn it sounds like its rattling when bass is at a decent level? Anything i should try?

Sorry to hear of your sound issue. It's really annoying, especially when it's not an essential car function. But it is an essential convenience.
Usually, it's the speaker wearing out or blown. Age will cause the wires to separate from the cones, or even dry out the components. I had speakers which only worked when it was hot outside. Heard it was not uncommon in GM cars. Had to replace the speakers.
