1st thing to do is check Manufacturers 'Technical service bulletins' - this is proof 'that a problem exists' and reinforces your claim:

A very useful post, tkx. The wife's 3yo SUV is/was the first 'new car purchase' in 20 years. For the one she had for the 20 years before it, I knew to keep checking for TSBs as advance heads-up to potential issues, and also caught an outright recall even before she got the postcard notification. It was a good one too - accel cable bracket could stick on the top cover and get stuck on near full throttle.

Wow...great information. I have the DRL dimming/failure problem which comes with the potentially huge price tag to resolve. I read a post here where the guy got pretty aggressive with the dealer and wound up getting the lights replaced for only a few hundred dollars out of his pocket. Shame it requires that but I am certainly not shy about getting aggressive should that time come.

I use this link (*In the link just put your year in for related TSBs) After selecting 'topic' (steering, engine etc.) right click the TSB of interest and 'open in new tab'- then click on the PDF file.
