Auto Cooled Seats

Well, it's been getting pretty hot out here in Cali. 106 degrees last week! I have noticed that when I remote start my vehicle, the cooled seats do not come on. I have checked the settings to make sure they are turned on for auto start & they are on. I have also tried turning them off & then on again in the settings but they still do not activate. They come on fine when I turn them on manually but do not activate during remote start. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks,

Max

When Remote Start is activated and the heated/ventilated seats are enabled via CUE, neither indicator will illuminate on the HVAC control panel.

The seats are not cooled, (another brilliant cost-saving measure from Cadillac; the cooled seats in my Chevy chill so well your sperm count is diminished) --just ventilated, meaning the leather and seat cushion bake all day and all you're doing when the ventilated option is enabled, is blowing the warm air out of the interior of the seat. This is why the seats appear to be "cooling" during a morning commute, but don't do much at all when the interior is well over 100 degrees. A more powerful 12vdc computer fan would likely be a lot more effective, especially if placed inline with a 12 vdc TEC (Thermo-Electric Cooler).

One option is to ensure the air ducts are sealed under the seat and verify the fan is operating at all (three) speeds. That might take a borescope or a dealership diagnostic to confirm.

It is not a problem it is working correctly in the manor it was designed.

Remote starts does not turn on heat and cooling seat functions, or heated steering wheel, even if you left it on before you turned off the car.
In the 2014 XTS owner's manual please refer to page 63, Section 3-10 "Remote Start Heated and Ventilated Seats".

Page 160 describes how to enable the "Remote Start Auto Cool Seats" and "Remote Start Auto Heated Seats" options using the CUE Personalization Settings menu.
