Hey everyone,

How is everyone planning on attaching their aftermarket or OEM spoilers to their BWs? One product I have used in the past is Betalink. It is used by BMW to attach their accessories (spoilers, lips, etc.) and is sold at BMW dealers. I used it on one of my previous BMWs to attach a spoiler and IT STICKS. It's not exactly easy to work with (it's a werid tarry material) but if you take your time it works well.

Does anyone have any reason why I shouldn't use this to glue the spoiler to my car? Are people actually bolting hteir spoilers to their cars? I would be so nervous to do this...

While not specific to the CT5, I've seen plenty of aftermarket spoilers that are held on with nothing more than 3M double-sided trim tape. Looks like that's how Savage Cadillac's carbon fiber one installs, for instance.

If you buy an OEM GM Blackwing CF spoiler, it comes with a template and instructions for drilling a couple of extra holes in the trunk lid.

I totally get that that is how it's done but the idea of drilling into metal on this car gives me the beginnings of an anxiety attack.

Totally agree, that's where Betalink comes in. A strong adhesive used by a respected manufacturer in their high performance cars.

I hear ya. However, if the OEM chooses to bolt it on, that's what I'm gonna do.

Let me know where you drive, so, when it flys off if it’s not to damaged I will put in on my 5V 😜

My concern with bolting on is the rust that might form at the holes you drill. I hope from factory there is some sort of rust proofing applied to that. I don't trust that setup afterwards.

The procedure is to treat and seal metal on the drilled holes. That is a standard practice.

From the instructions:

"De-burr drilled holes (1) and apply corrosion protection P/N 12346225 or equivalent to all
holes."
