I am looking at buying a 2006 STS 4 V8 that has these wheels. Are these a factory option? I have been looking for an STS for about 3 months and I have not seen these wheels on any other STS. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve

Thank you very much. I thought the 18" factory rims were the 9-spoke wheels. I had not seen the 12-spoke before.

That's what I get for being a newbie.

I disagree. I have a 2006 STS4 1SG w' the 18" faceted 9-Spoke wheels. I may be wrong but I think these are aftermarket.

Any other opinions?

These wheels do have a Cadillac emblem on the centerpiece but that does not mean that they are not aftermarket.

Any more opinions would be greatly appreciated. I am looking to buy this car but I would prefer that they are factory wheels. I guess this is the old Corvette "everything original" coming out in me.

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks for the info!

I had the VIN# ran and the car came with the 18" factory wheels. I don't understand why the previous owner would have switched to these wheels.

I guess he thought they looked better. I would have preferred the original wheels.

What do you folks think about purchasing a used STS with these wheels? Do you think it takes away from the car by not being the original wheels?

Being that they aren't significantly different from the wheels that came on the car, I would be suspicious for an accident of some sort... i.e. bending wheels on a curb, etc.

The standard 18" wheels are 7 spoke, the up graded (1sg) has 9 spoke and I think there was a 12 spoke but it was a special order. I've seen these wheels on E-Bay. I guess the only was to be sure is to have one of the wheels removed from the car and look on the back side of the spokes for GM part numbers.

The wheels you picture are for V Series cars, and standard STS's from 2007 onward.

The 18" factory option wheels for 2005 and 2006 was this 9 spoke design.

 I have an '06 with the upgraded 18" wheels, and they don't have the set screws (or whatever those are) between the spokes.

05's & 06's had the set screws, if you have an 06 and the wheels don't have the set screws then you either had and 06 built late in the model year or they are 07's.

Then I'm afraid they're from a later model. I believe Cadillac used the same wheel design (without the little rivets) on the DTS from 06 onward.

The sticker on the driver door says manufacture date 10/05.

I bought the vehicle new, and the window sticker says "18" Polished Aluminum Wheels - $600"

No rivets.

I think both were available and may have more differences. Chrome vs. Polished Aluminium?
