It will be VERY hard to put anything other than a Northstar in your car. You would have to change every computer in the car and many functions would be changed and the car would not work properly anymore. The climate control would be confused and not work, as well as the radio (yep, it is all connected together) and nearly every other accessory on the car.

Why are you so against a N*?

If you stud the block the motor will be pretty much bullet proof.

Can't be done - too many incompatible mechanical, electrical, and computer glitches.

As posted, do a top overhaul with Jake's studs and it will run forever.

Go to Northstar Performance and slog through AJxtcman's Northstar Tuning and 97eldocoupe's (Jake, nX8 performance) "Damned head gasket" threads. Lots of info pro, con, and in between. Jake, in Canada (Ontario ?), has an ad in the banner ads at the top of these pages, very obviously about studs when it rolls around.

Catch up with him right now about 3/4 of the way down the first page of Northstar Performance - 97EldoCoupe - thread "New studs incorporate alignment pins".
