I see, what you should do is to make a system diagnostic and see what error code the computer has registered, i am not sure if the 83 Fleetwood Coupe has OBD1 Diagnostic system, or if you have to pull the diagnostic codes from your ECC panel.

OBD-1? Not hardly.

Time for a service manual.

Been 30 years but IIRC you can read throttle angle on the HVAC control head with the right button pushes.

If not time for a VOM. TPS failure is just like a scratchy old volume control on a radio. It runs into a dead spot and sends the wrong voltage to the ECM.

Carnut knows this stuff in his sleep...........

You should be able to just pull codes thru climate control for those years.
