I have been searching for a write up on how to do this but haven't had much luck. If anyone can point me in the right direction or give any info on how to best go about this I'd appreciate it. I'm a little leery of just digging into this blindly with how easily some of these GM clips have broken off on me in the past.

I've now plasti dipped and spray painted my front grilles on 2 separate occasions and they just keep peeling/scratching off. My plan this time is to power wash the grilles while off the car then clean and apply adhesion promoter before spraying Plasti dip on the front/back. Hoping having the paint all the way around will be less prone to peeling/scraping.. But the first step is getting the damn things off!!

I appreciate any help ya'll can give.

There's a nice detailed writeup from the Texas V club here http://www.blackmoonproducts.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/V2-Front-Bumper-Removal-PDF.pdf on how to pull the bumper to get the grills off. It worked really well for me.

If you want to pull the top grill off of its metal frame, you'll need a rivet gun and rivets to reconnect it. Probably not necessary if you're just painting I'd keep the frame on it (I needed to pull the rivets when I replaced my grill entirely and had to reconnect the new one).

But you'll need a set of car trim & panel removal tools so you don't break the plastic fasteners while removing the bumper and trim. Easy to find at Amazon and makes the job much smoother. Something like this https://www.amazon.com/AFA-Pcs-Auto-Upholstery-Tools/dp/B01JKDJNCS/

I've never done it before and was able to do it myself without issue, and I'm a Carpenter. Just remember how many screws went into each section. Take pictures. Don't button up until you are sure all the screws that go inside are inside.

Take a look at the instructions for installing aftermarket heat exchangers. The plastic front end must be taken off to do so. The two grills then come out easily by removing a few clips. I will check to see if I still have that info.
