I was watching Dirty Jobs on the Discovery channel earlier and he was at an Ostrich farm. The guy mentioned that Ostrich eggs taste same as chicken eggs and are pretty good.

I was intrigued.

So Googled it and found this:

http://www.ostrichgrowers.com/index.html

I am ordering some ground Ostrich, some Ostrich filets and 1 Ostrich egg this Friday pending that i hear its good.

Thay have some pretty gourmet recipies on the site.

Anyone ever had it before?

There used to be a guy pimping emu meat and oils at regional state fairs, gun shows, etc. I listened to this guys "lecture" about how lean and good for you the meat is and how emu oil will cure cancer. There used to be a BIG market for emu and ostrich meat (and eggs) 15 years ago. After the market fell out and those "investors" lost their shirts they had to find creative ways to sell a less than spectacular meat. YMMV

I'd like pics and a report on how the meat tastes. And pics of the grande omlet. :D

Pics and a report are a given. I plan on making an omlette with some of the egg(whole egg = 24 chicken eggs),it will be huge though. The website says i can freeze the remaining egg gook. I am going to dice up some of the ostrich filets and put it in the omlette. Also brocolli, onions, mushrooms, garlic, and some pepper.

I cant wait.
