Its one thing after another with this car ( Search for my thread under....My trip to hell in a STS ) My 05 will be 1 year old in Feb. its more in the dealers lot than in my driveway. 2 weeks ago I got gas then when I turnd the car back on, I noticed my fuel gauge read empty, my mpg read - - -. I called the service dept at my dealers and he told me to bring it back in, turns out there was a bad sensor in the tank and since there was a service bulletin on this problem they had to take the gas tank out and replace it, if thats not bad enough when the new tank comes in......its cracked and needs to be sent back and a new one ordered. ESCH! What I don't understand is, if there is a service bulletin posted, why doesn't Caddy send a recall out to bring the car in? Also while in for service I had to have the Onstar checked, if I try to reach the car from my home phone it doesn't ring, Onstar has told me they have almost 15 pages of complants that I have had about the same problem, yet its still not fixed, the last time I called them they told me they couldn't even get the car to show up on their screen locater, had heaven forbid the car been stolen or the air bag deployed they would never know it. I'm really getting fed up with this car, while its a beautiful looking car, and drives fabulous.........I can't drive a broken car, I pay for it monthly, but hell....I can't drive it! I'm about at my wits end, any ideas?????? In advance........thanks for the help.

With so many various issues I doubt there is one answer for your problem(s). If you are having the same item(s) repaired/replaced three or more times you may try that angle..

You should also have a file open with the Cadillac Customer Service Center not just the dealer and OnStar. They are supposed to follow up until resolution (notice I said supposed...) and can track your overall vehicle history.

I would suggest putting everything in writing in a clear concise document while doing your best to leave the frustration out (as hard as that is). Certify and send it and then use that along with your service history as a baseline to push for satisfaction. Decide on what you want and then ask for it...

On a side note, Manufactures do not call in vehicles for general service bulletins or advisories. They only do it on service campaigns/bulletins that specify a recall event. The most serious items that are safety related (subjective I know) get recalls. Others that can/might occur to a portion of consumers are put in the system for the next time you come in for service; or until you experience the problem. All vehicle manufacturers do this. My wife's car (not a caddy) blew a head gasket and when serviced they replaced the engine for free based on an existing service bulletin. Didn't mean they were going to call her in before it went though... That's why it is advisable to have your service advisor pull the bulletins even if your in for an oil change. Keeps you up on what is out there and if you have any of the issues they can take care of it.

Best of luck getting back to enjoyment and not frustration.

Dealing with a Caddy rep was a huge hassle when I had my problem back in June ( Under my thread of My trip to hell in a STS ) I battled with them for literally hours and days ( 4 days to be exact, as we were stranded in a hotel with no transportation ) my STS died while we were on vacation 200 miles from home, Caddy left us there on our own, they told us it was at their discression to decide if they would pay to get us a rental car and have our car towed, my car had all of 2950 miles on it then, they left a real bad taste in my mouth about ever buying another GM car after that. We did speak with the general manager of our dealership and nothing was resolved, he promised to get a GM rep to come to talk to us and till today we have heard nothing. It seems to be one thing after another after another with this car, we are locked into a 3 year lease with it. Now after getting the car back yesterday after the fuel tank being replaced.......we have a clicking noise when stepping on the brake and putting the car in reverse. When does this end????? Our standing joke at the service dept is..if its gonna get a service bulletin, we will know it first. I really do love the car, when its in working condition, our biggest fear is traveling with it and getting stuck again and having Caddy just blow us off as they did the first time. Its usually not a ongoing problem with one thing, its a new problem each time, soon the service dept. will have re-built the entire car. : (

Well, like I said, if its gonna happen, its gonna happen to my STS! Today we are driving home from our vacation and 20 miles into the trip we hear....THUD, THUMP, BANG, CLANG, you guessed it, I had the same problem you did, someone did not put the shield back on right and now the car sits yet once more back in the service department. I'm just getting really sick and tired of problem after problem with this thing. I paid a good amount of money for my little lemon, I don't expect to drive every rental car that Enterprise has to offer in place of it. GM and Cadillac has to do something about this, I kid you not, this car is in the service department at least once a month, every month, and its a new problem every time. Today I taped a large paper onto the window when i left it at the dealer that said..........I'mmmmmmm back! :thepan: Smack me in the head if I decide to purchase another Cadillac, just smack me in the head. :(
