Passenger side under the hood by the windshield wiper - a rectangular cover with two rubberish tabs to push in. After opening and setting the cover aside, to remove the assembly (best way) locate and remove the pushpin plastic retainer on the right side of the frame (when you are facing the windshield) then the whole plastic carrier and filter both come out as a unit. You will have to fold and insert the replacement back into this frame, then the whole thing slides back in and you reinstall the pushpin retainer and replace the cover. 5 minute job.
Totally agree TJ - for example replacing a simple headlight or turn signal bulb. Ridiculously complicated. I'm actually surprised they didn't come up with the need to remove the entire hood wipers and cowl to replace the cabin filter. It's about the only thing that isn't almost impossible to do on these cars.
