I thought about it, but the surround vision recorder does a nice enough job and it only needed a $15 SD card. My dad bought one of the GM affiliated dash cams for his '20 Sierra though and likes it. I'll try to get the name

The surround vision recorder on mine doesn't record while the vehicle is in motion. Does yours?

Thanks. I will try again today. I know that the 2020s had some bad video recorder modules so hopefully mine isn't one of those.

I had the surround camera issue but once that was resolved it works 100% of the time. Got a 128GB SD card in it with no issues

Am using a Fat32 32GB Class 10 max endurance. Didn't know we could go bigger - not that we need to. Good to know.

Yeah, there is some free program I used to format it to FAT32, but all the other specs match what the manual calls for. Just wanted a larger backlog just in case

It turns out that I do indeed have the record while you drive feature and it's automatic. The quality sucks but it's mostly to help make a case in the event of an accident. I still might get a forward-facing dashcam that records in HD.

The more I use this video recorder feature, the more I like it. Again, the video quality puts me in mind of a Philco TV circa 1975 but it records separate tracks forward, rearward and to the sides. This is more than adequate for most situations where you need to prove something in the event of an accident. I have decided against the bother of installing a dashcam.
The performance data recorder in my CT5-V is way higher quality in terms of a dashcam but it's frontward facing only (AFAIK).
