So today I found my dog had gotten to my keyfob and chewed it to pieces. The only thing intact is the manual key you can unlock the car with. I looked up if I could start the car with that but all I'm finding is what you do when the keyfob is dead (place it in the center console and start the vehicle). I tried that with the pieces I have left of the fob but it didn't work. So is there any possible way that I can start the car with the manual key or did they build it to only be electronically started?

In the key fob there is a little plastic (glass?) capsule that contains the actual chip. It is about 1/2 inch long
and about 1/8 inch in diameter and is generally clear. You can see the coil of wire in it. If you have that then
you should be able to start the car. If that was destroyed then you must go to the dealer and pay lots of money.

Do you have a second key? Even a dead key may still have a good capsule.
