I have no need for OnStar. Is there any other uses/hacks that can make it useful for something else, legal of course? I have a 2006, base model, no GPS.

There is an article from Popular Mechanics on using the GPS locator from onstar for Nav on a laptop, and there are a few companies that make a bluetooth adapter so you can use the onstar mic and mirror controls for your phone.

Look on youtube, I seen a few hacks there but personally I love my OnStar. They have a tow service, you press that blue button and they come get you.

I have AAA and have had really good service from them, 3 tows and a dead battery on other vehicles. Bluetooth looks good but wish it was able to access the gps app.
