Any Mallett-V Owners Here?

Anyone here own a Mallett-V? I'm interested in your impressions of the car regarding quality, performance, drivability etc.

I'm starting to think about my next vehicle and I love my V but I would like a bit more power. I don't want the maggie and would prefer a more "built" engine. The Z06 is spectacular and affordable, but I love the V's comfort. Some of us toured the Mallett facility and it was very impressive. However, I've never met anyone who owns one.

I only remember one guy on the forum that has a Mallet V. He doesn't post much though.

Well not to thread hack here, but why do you want to go to Mallett?? How much power do you really want from you V and what mods are you looking at doing??

Thanks

Mainly because it is a tuner package that is recognized for resale purposes. My thinking is that it would be an advantage over the perception that the car is just heavily modded.

The guy with the Mallet V was trying to sell it very shortly after purchasing it. Try the search.

Keep in mind that I am all for the Mallett conversion and briefly considered it myself. However, just for a reality check, I will offer the following-Having owned and sold many tuner vehicles, they are not much eaiser to sell than and heavily modded counterpart as the perception is that the owner had it modded to beat the life out of it. If anything, one looses more as it is far more costly to go the tuner route. However, I have on a couple of occaissions gotten lucky with the right buyer and the old "I simply wanted to own a Dinan BMW or Rentech Mercedes and have only puttered around town in it, never beat the piss out of it, really!".

I guess what I'm trying to say is go with Mallett with you in mind, not the next owner! The Katech package is pretty awesome too.
Blacksport:

You hit the nail on the head. I want to avoid the "I built a race car" appearance that can go with a regular tuner car in favor of the "this is like a factory option" appearance that attaches to Dinan, Ruf, Mallett, Lingenfelter etc. Even though it may be more a function of good marketing than anything else, those cars have the marketplace reputation of being more of a total package rather than just a head and cam job, even if the mechanic is first rate.

Hey Thuggy-Bear:

CTSVader was one member that had a Mallett. Maybe drop him a PM or see if his e-mail is on his profile. I don't remember seeing him post of late.

Not too many tuners can claim to hold almost seventy cents on the dollar like Mallett.
