I can hear a bearings in my alt squeeking a bit, i'm sure its the original one back from 1976. I'm looking at putting a better ignition system in and running a lot of asserories including a 12v to 120v converter. I need to make a choice for a new alternator. Can anyone suggest some where to shop and how big I should go? What are the dissadvantages of running a big alt (besides taking more engine power to run it). Know any places to shop where they are know a lot about big old cads?

thx!

I know my old EFI '76 Fleetwood had a bigger alternator than the 4bbl cars. I believe it was around 120 Amps. I'm pretty sure it had different brackets to mount it to the engine, but that was the only difference. You might want to see if that will work for you!
