Well my alternator went out at 76,000 miles, and my dumb warranty company will not cover it since it was a pre-existing condition. ( i recently upgraded warranty) either way I need to get an alternator. Dealer says 04 is by itself, I can get a 2006 one used but are ls2 and ls6 alternator the same? Thanks
If you get any information that would be beneficial to me, feel free to call

How long can you wait to get it? gmpartsdirect.com has them for $263.82 + shipping, but it might take 2-3 weeks to show up.

They have the same part# for '05 and '06, but I don't know if that 100% correct.

I'd seriously consider jerking that puppy off & getting it rebuilt for those dollars, Around here you can usually get one rebuilt in a day or two for Waaaay less than that. Why don't you give a rebuilder a call & ask how much to do it

RockAuto.com has two kinds (both remanufactured) for the 2004-2005 cost $236 and $276. They do not have one for 2006-2007, nor do their 04-05 parts cross reference to the 2006-2007. Based on that, I would guess the LS2 alternator will not work as a direct replacement. I use RockAuto for my Chevy suburban parts and they ship pretty quickly. Also try Lindsay Cadillac.

You really start to wonder what drugs the electrical guys were on when they screwed up the design. :helpless:

"Hey dude, let's make it use a special battery". :histeric:

"I got one better, let's make it so you can't replace the radio and get the most un-ergonomic nav system out there".

"How about a special alternator or a non repairable-proprietary-brake light?"

" I got the sensor system already screwed up!"

With all it's shortcomings and warts, I still like my car :cloud9:.

Even though it is obsolete.
