Winter is coming here in Ohio and I need to get rid of the summer only tires. I searched this forum and did not find much regarding all season tires. I talked to my dealer and they offered two different options for all season tires. 1) Goodyear Eagle Sport's for $200 or 2) Michelin Pilot Sport 4's for $265 each. The Michelin's would be a special order with a freight charge which is probably the reason for the significantly higher price. I have never been fan of Goodyear tires but I am currently leaning towards this option. I have read reviews comparing the two tires and they seem to about equivalent. The Goodyear's give a quieter and smoother ride but the Michelin's have a little better performance in water. I am thinking it may be a lot easier to get a replacement Goodyear tire if I ever need a replacement. I have also searched Discount Tire and similar sites and the offerings are very sparse. Any thoughts or opinions? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Buy the Michelins. I have never been disappointed by any Michelin. I was driving home at night on the freeway and hit a 2x4 on the road. I was unable to steer clear because of traffic and limited visibility at night. I found out later that the 2x4 actually dented the underneath of my car. It also damaged the tire, but it took 9 months for the tire to start leaking. It was unrepairable.
Do you have the 18"s or 19"s? Either way, the dealership is about the last possible place I would go shopping for tires - unless your dealership offers some sort of price match guarantee. Tire Rack has plenty of options in the 18" size, not as many in the 19". I would probably recommend the Continental DWS06+, which is in stock, about the same price as the Goodyear the dealership offered you, and an all around better tire. The DWS/DWS06/DWS06+ have consistently been rated higher than the Michelins in Tire Rack's testing (but I don't know if TR does a 2x4 test
).
I'm no expert, but when i bought my used SRX and needed tires ASAP .. I asked for the best all season they had ( yes I was a bit of a doofus) and while they perform well all year heavy rain and snow, they are a bit noisy....I'll be glad when they wear out and i can actually research what i buy...its my own fault. I am tired of playing fuk fuk with summer /winter wheel tires....
Thank You for that recommendation. I really like Continental tires. I am inquiring with the dealer. I found that the dealer prices are just slightly higher than the prices I have found on Discount Tire. I purchased a wheel, tire, and dent package when I got my car. In the winter the potholes around my area are really bad. My family has busted various tires and wheels throughout the winter. I think If I get the tires through the dealer, it will be easier to do a warranty replacement. The service of Discount Tire has been outstanding for me. Of course, it depends on your local shop. They have covered mileage warranty on various occasions and it has been hassle free. I can't say the same about any dealership. I find most dealerships are not very ethical and don't have the customer's best interests. When I had to replace a tire, the dealer didn't inform me about the free replacement from Pirelli and thus I made the mistake of purchasing a new tire from the dealer. As far as the quality of construction, Michelin is a better tire than the Continentals.
Actually the last two sets I've purchased were at the Cadillac dealership.
GM price matches, and usually twice per year they have great rebates - $100/set or $200 if you use a GM credit card!
