I'm still not willing to spend that kind of money on the intake. I know it's a high quality product, but I feel that it is still too high. K&N makes an excellent product for the FIPK, and they usually sell for around $250 for the luxury cars. If your price comes closer to that, I would purchase it. But for $400, I don't see the value.

Hello,
Thank you for your opinion. We understand that this upgrade might not be for everyone. But for people that appreciate meticulous aerospace grade tig welds, CNC laser cut heat shields, mandrel bend piping, high quality t-bolt stainless clamps, military spec powder coat, high quality K&N filter, high quality silicone couplers, and CAD designed by an actual engineer, we feel this kit offers a GREAT deal of value considering the quality of this kit. I am sorry you feel that this kit should be closer to $250 on a luxury car. We feel that this air intake system is a great representation for Cadillac performance and it would be what one would expect when modifying their Cadillac CTS luxury car. I think any of the customers that actually own this product would agree.

Please let us know if there are any questions.

Thank you,

Dr. Design
D3 Cadillac

Come on, guys. You complain that their prices are too high, then ridicule them when they offer a sale? Badgering and insulting vendors will just scare away potential companies that might browse these forums, and then we'll have no one offering performance parts for your cars. It also breaks one of the most important rules of the forum: Directly insulting other members is not tolerated.

In my opinion, $400 ~ $450 is a fair price for the first year high quality Air Intake product.
However, with save 30%, more people will be interested. PRICE vs DEMAND. Better than nothing or Never!
^ This, on the other hand, is a good example of a constructive post.

If you are that angry and upset about what D3 posted, you need to rethink your priorities, close your browser and get some fresh air. There's enough information out there (dynos, etc) to make an educated choice about an intake. If you don't think D3's intake is worth it, vote with your wallet and buy someone else's.

Let's keep this friendly, shall we?

Very tempting! I agree, you can always buy cheaper stuff but a CTS deserves something nice. If I didn't need to get permission from my wife I would be getting this now. Always liked sales...

Since I am not gonna be beat up for posting, I'll add my 2¢ worth. I got my D3 CAI in February. I am completely satisfied with it. My only disappointment is that it doesn't appear Corsa will be making the CAT-Back exhaust system for the CTS. I had planned to pair the two.

As far as cost, I came over to Cadillac after owning only Mercedes and Porsche vehicles for the past 20 years. $425 is a bargain compared to accessories for German cars. A net divider for my ML550 (to keep the dog from coming forward) was $450. An aluminum body plate (small) for my Cayenne S was $900. The point being, these are all small production OEM items. The price isn't less because they are not making and selling thousands. Anytime you have a small niche production, you will always pay a higher price.

Have you noticed any air induction noise increase with the CAI? Any noticable performance or MPG increase?
The CTS 3.6DI is definitely more responsive. The acceleration noticeably increased. I have not checked my mpg. I was getting 23.9mpg with mostly highway miles and ethanol-free gas. I will be driving 2000 miles at the end of the month and will post if I get better than the 23.9.

There is the slightest high pitch sound with the D3 CAI. It cannot be described as loud. It's not constant. It's there when I accelerate. I have K&N CAI's in both a Jeep Rubicon & a Honda Ridgeline. Probably because the engine compartments are not as insulated, the sound is much more noticeable in them.

I have no regrets adding the D3 CAI to my CTS. As I posted above, my only disappointment is that Corsa probably won't be making a CAT back system for my CTS. I think the CAI & the Corsa would have been a great match and would have substantially increased performance.

I apologize to D3 for making a comment about the price. I wasn't intending to offend or ridicule the vendor. The product looks amazing and I'm sure it's very high quality and I completely understand paying for a quality product. The only purpose of my post was to present my opinion, and I was not aware that's against forum policies, and that I apologize for. I was honestly hoping they would make me a deal ;). Anyway, if they offer a larger discount like others said I agree they would get additional sales, but that's not up to me and I was not intending to bash at all.
