Well I went out to start my V and found the 5 year old factory battery wouldn't turn my starter (click click click)... so I rolled my car down the driveway and popped the clutch.

In any case, factory battery lasted 5 years, I hope this NEW $149 battery does as well.

Is that about right for an OEM battery?? My guess is that the car hasn't been driven a lot and it's just 'time'.

I think that is considerably longer than average. I think the OEM battery is a known poor performer. Many threads on the issue and suitable replacements.

I always wondered how long they last...I'm about due here soon. Probably should be more proactive before it leaves me somewhere.

I believe my original battery lasted until about 100k. It didn't really fail but it was weak and as I expected did not pass a load test. I had it replaced under LCPO. Well one dealer denied it and the other replaced it willingly...
