We've been having snow mixed with wintry mix (freezing rain and sleet) for the last five hours. It is supposed to turn to all snow in another 15 minutes and leave us with about 6 inches of the white stuff over night. We fully expect to once again be snowed in as our street plowing is really retarded here in Central Virginia.

Yup, fifteen minutes was about right; it is now snowing with flakes the size of quarters!

The local weather is saying the Tidewater won't be getting as much snow as Richmond north 100 miles. My wife's Dachshund just ran out on the deck and quickly ran back with a very disgusted look on his face .... guess he must be dragging already!

What town is your property near?

One thing we marvel at, hear in "None NOVA" Virginia is every night listening to the nightly weather report we are constantly hearing new towns we have never heard of before. If we were complete newcomers that wouldn't be surprising, but having now lived in the Richmond area for almost ten years it is still a surprise to say to one another, "Snookie's Crossing" never heard of that one before!"

That should be very nice, some good restaurants in Williamsburg. Know the town quite well as my son went to law school at W&M. We still drive down for lunch and a day out. Just be prepared for long travel time from NJ during the Summer months.

I bypass all of the traffic and construction in Baltimore/ D.C by taking 301 in Delaware through to 295.
I definitely recommend the James Landing Grill in the summer

Here on Kent Island (one mile north of your Rt.50/301 run to NJ) we currently have 7" of snow with a slush base. When the temp gets below 25 tonight it will be slippery as hell. 50/301 is basically deserted.

Chick, Put this site in your phone - all the highway traffic cameras in MD, including the Eastern Shore.

Generally, the bridge "splits" to 3 lanes eastbound at about 3:30 PM or so - rush hour - and on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings (summer - beach traffic). Rt.50 westbound on Kent Island backs up on Saturday mornings due to the third lane going eastbound.

You can see when it's split by using the Sandy Point camera as well as a few of the actual bridge gantry cameras. K.I. backups show on the Eastern Shore, MD 8 at Rt.50 camera.

4.3 miles of potenially nasty traffic and delays .................. with a $6.00 eastbound toll.

The right hand bridge is the old 2-lane one, the left is the newer 3-lane.

down here it's a big deal when the temp drops below 32F. Today I woke up to 4 inches of snow. The dog was not too happy to go out and pee. I wasn't that happy about it either, considering the wind was 20 from the north.

I find this funny, because my dachshund does not mind dragging his stuff. As a matter of fact he pushes it into the snow to pee. lol

Wooostah !

EDIT: At 1200 EST here it's 40 degrees, everything is dripping. Even the icicles are giving up. 2 more days above freezing and this white crap will be history................. then the 4 families down in here get to spend bucks repairing our gravel and sand road.
