I have been reading all of the threads and posts and you guys sure do give a lot of good information and are very knowledgeable. I just bought a 2003 CTS with the dark dash, and no Bose system. I was wondering if I can still add navigation to this? What year navi do I need? Does it have to be 03 or does 04 & 05 work? Does anyone know the model number by any chance of the one I would need or know a good place to pick one up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

:bouncy: Yes, you can add the Nav system to any year CTS. The newest Nav you can find will be the best. Make sure you get a DVD Nav and not the CD based. eBay is going to be your best and easiest source. There are junk yards. Most members who have bought off of eBay have had good luck with their purchases. Most DVD based CTS Navs run around $1000. Some a little less, most more. A new 2006 DVD Nav just sold last week for around $1450. It was new, almost all on eBay are used. Nothing wrong with used as long as no physical damage and it works. The only problem you'll have with the non-Bose system is you won't be able to add the voice guidance and voice recognition commands. Without, these, the Nav is still a wise investment and is fully functional. If you're serious, do a search on eBay and find out what the CTS DVD Navs sold for. Determine what you're willing to pay. Check eBay several times everyday. You'll find one soon. Good luck!

One last question, does the navigation screen show you the information that used to be on the info screen? Like the outside temp? Trip odometer, average mileage, etc?? Or are these just gonna be a lost feature when added? Also anyone know about bluetooth with this? And, Im sorry, last one, Will this make my onstar system not work anymore? 2006 I can really put that in there, it will fit??

Thanks again

Yes, you still have oil life, outside temp, average MPG, etc. Onstar works the same, but there is no bluetooth yet in the CTS. If you've got the black dash (as opposed to the graphite color one), you can use any DVD nav. They all fit the dash as the base unit does. The base amp does not have the capability for the audible directions, though. The voice command mod from phase-2 (you can tell the nav what you want to do) will work, but without the Nav talking back, may prove difficult to use. It will still be very functional without those.

You'll also need to make sure to get the GPS antenna, a map disk, and fabricate a wire to spice into the VSS signal in the instrument panel. It's all at CadillacFAQ.com.
