Hi guys, i need help. i recently bought an 03 cts with power driver seat without lumbar or heat and manual passenger one. the car did not have the heated seat option so the previous owner added aftermarket seat heaters that aren't working. the seat bottoms are torn in a few spots so i went to a nearby junkyard and found a 2005 cts that had the same color interior and both seats were in very good condition. they are both power seats with lumbar and they're heated. i asked for just the bottoms but he said he would only sell me the whole seats and the price was hard to argue with. i got both seats for a total of $150.00. my questions are:

1) will the seats from an 05 fit in an 03?
2) will i be able to hook up the heat option?
3) will i need to buy a new heat and AC control unit that has the heated seat buttons on it?
4) Can i tap into the power that the previous owner ran for the aftermarket heater?

i recently swapped my IC with an 05 and it was plug and play. i'm hoping that just adding the new heat/ac control unit would also be that easy but that sounds too good to be true. any help would be appreciated

Here is a guy that attempted it and ran into problems. I guess you need the rear seat fuse box off of the donor vehichle too.

He also discussed it in a different thread:
@ Longsnapper - No I haven't finished it yet. The hold up is finding a set of fuseblocks that sit on either side of the transmission tunnel in the back seat area. I want the blocks out of a CTS with the heated seat options cause the proper fuse points have buses, where my fuse blocks do not. The problem is finding them. Most parts yards don't even want to talk to me about them. Other then that they are installed and wired, I just don't have power to them till I can do it right.
Unless you are super wiring guy, I would just take the seat covers off and trash or resell the frames.

The heated seats are not a simple circuit like traditional heated seats. The climate control commands the heated seat module on whatever seat is being turned on before the element turns on. You will need the climate control head unit, heated seats, heated seat modules, harnesses and the rear fuse box to make it work.

A word of caution: Though Cadillac has never admitted to a problem, I have searched for salvage title Cadillacs (mostly CTS, of course) on a variety of auction sites, and have seen
an alarming number of cars that are salvage because of interior fires. In every case, the fire originated in a front seat and in every case, the seats had the heater option.

I believe there is an undiagnosed and serious safety issue with the heated seats.

I plan to disconnect mine. It's not like I really NEED them here in central Florida anyway.

I'd at least suggest that you should install a manual cutout switch ( a substantial one, to carry the current) in
the heated seat system so you can completely disconnect them at will.

There have been reports of the heaters turning on by themselves. Add that to a possible fire hazard and the result can
cause you to lose sleep at night.

Eh, I think I'd notice my ass heating up much more than usual in time to pull over. Although, my seat lighting up while driving down the freeway sounds a little scary.

And if she lights up when I'm not in it, well, then I guess Farmer's gets to write a nice check.

I NEED my heated seats here in MN:)

I have secretly prayed for my car to get totaled while I am not in it. Getting a giant check to go car shopping would be on my list of fun things to do.
