Actual GM buy backs

There have been several comments on this forum and other XLR forums concerning Lemons and buy backs. It would be interesting to find out how many have actually been repurchased by GM.

My guess is zero but we'll see if anyone responds.
Early production models had issues with the top glass coming out. I suppose if you combine that with some leaks and the pink interior problem that could add up to three (three problems required in most states).
If you are thinking that they just come out of the blue and buy it back, think again. While I am sure this has happened on occasion, most if not all went to arbitration to make them do it.
Ive got one on the lot thats awaiting GM to come and get it ....

it kept doing screwy things with the fob

So it was an actual GM buyback? Did the owner get a new replacement or their $$$ back?
If you got the buyback from GM<< wow,, they are fighting us to the limit. Its going to arbitration. I think we will loose and the lawyers will have to take over. NIGHTMARE!!!!!
I had 2004 XLR that was in the shop for approximately 40 days. I made two phone calls explaining the situation to Cadillac. I expected a fight involving attorneys, but to my surprise, within 60 days I received a new 2005 Cadillac XLR. Cadillac customer service personnel were professional and very helpful throughout the complete process. I am proud to say I am a Cadillac customer.

Most states don't require three different problems but rather three tries at the same problem and/or thirty or more days in the shop with the same substantial problem. Each state is different but the three tries at the same problem is pretty much standard. For instance, my co-worker got a new Lincoln after three tries at fixing an engine oil leak. The fourth time back at the shop was the charm.

to be honest im not sure , all i know is the car belongs to GM now it left late last week, now to get the bastards to pick up that 05 GTO before i steal it ....
My '05 is going on its 12th day in the shop for "screwy FOB problems", the latest being that it locked my keyfob in the car when I stepped away. It also was in for the driver seat rails to be replaced because of movement upon acceleration or stopping (at first they called it normal and refused to fix it).
I should have had it back on Friday but was told they scatched the interior sills upon reinstillation of the seat and so had to repaint it.While at the dealership, I noticed an '04 on the showroom floor for less than $34K!

I am hoping this FOB issue will never be resolved so I can get them to buy this mistake back under the Lemon Law. I was told by the buyer/wholesaler at an exotic car dealership that there is little interest in this car at the auction and that the wholesale value of mine was in the low $50K's.
Lastly, all this time in the shop and all they ended up doing for the FOB issue is re-flash the computer. I have a feeling GM is clueless about what to do about this problem, 'cause I obviously am not the first and every home made remedy the fine folks on this Forum who have responded to my plight has offered has failed.
Twelve days down, 18 to go!

WOW--$34k?! Resale must be REALLY stinky on these....which, I guess, is partly to be expected, even though they sell close to list new.

I call BS on $34k. Even the cheapest I saw on ebay buy it now was $46k and on autotrader is $15.5k??

????????!?!?!?

I think im going to buy it.

Even doing a simple trade in, sell your car, im bound to get at least $30k...
I don't believe 34K. Not possible. 15K is a mistake. I watch the wholesale prices at Manheim auction (worlds largest) The lowest prices wholesale have been in the upper forties. At 34K the dealer could run it to the auction on a Thursday and leave with a check for 48-52K. Trust me that's what they would do. 34K maybe a one time lease payment for a 3 year lease, not a buy. I promise I am right if not I will buy both those cars today. No joke.
Absolutely correct in disputing my earlier post on the $34K cost. I had originally seen the tag on the windshield from outside the closed showroom window. When I went in to pick up the car the next day I wandered into the showroom to confirm what I saw and was relieved to see the $34K price was the total cost for a lease! Sorry about that folks.

Concerning my FOB problems and the Cadillac "fix", they "reflashed the computer" and say they are confident the issues are resolved. The service manager, when asked what I should do if the problems reoccur, basically threw up his hands and admitted they have no other answers and to call OnStar to document and leave a paper trail of the problems. Without mentioning it he was well aware of the Lemon rules and simply became sympathetic.
I got home turned the engine off, but the radio and nav sytem did not go off. Looked in the garage 15 minutes later the Nav screen was still lit. (Insert sigh here).

I couldn't even imagine if that had happened when I drove it home.... :stirpot: ....maybe it would just have to spontaneously combust....out in the middle of the street....
