I use the original Chevron Techron perodically in all of my gas powered cars and lawn equipment. Techron contains the same fuel system cleaner that is also used in Top Tier affiliated fuel stations.

I suspect the AC/Delco product uses the same primary ingredient but I haven't looked at their safety sheet.

A good fuel system cleaner is the ONLY additive I ever use outside of a fuel stabilizer that goes into my Corvette, Stihl Kombi system trimmer, and chain saws for their winter hibernation. During the winter, my diesel pickup, tractors, and standby generator get fuel dosed with Power Service to provide better anti-gel protection.

that stuff at least used to be the very same product sold by Chevron as Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner (PEA is the ingredient)...I don't know if it still is the same but I highly recommend the Chevron product used as directed although I have double dosed vehicles when I don't know the history of them (like buying a used car) or am having an issue with the fuel tank, float or etc.

I have used Chevron Techron in the GF's 2.0T specifically although her's is in a 2013 Malibu but it is the same engine you have just turned sideways ;) ...

no issues with using Chevron Techron product since 2013ish until now...

Good luck with your choice

I use the Red bottle of Heet.............
Why dump in more Ethanol/Methanol when we're already running close to E10????

Chevron TECHRON is perfectly adequate once in 5,000 miles. Yes, its components are also in TopTier gasolines.

For a popular brand of a premium TopTier fuel I would not worry about quantity/quality used from any pump for one skinny minute. The oft repeated superstition that fuel "goes bad" in the storage tank or even in a car tank for 6 - 8 months is patently false.

HEET, at about $3.39 a bottle, is actually jacking up your fuel cost somewhat while providing minimal if any benefit - I'd guess the Chicago area is an E10 emissions fuels area? So why add more alcohols?

I do live outside of Chicago and has E10 emissions fuel. But I do know people that have come across bad gas in my area over the last couple of years. But as you stated, technically , using premium TopTier fuel, negates using any outside fuel additive. But we do it for a piece of mind. Which is why I use the $2.98 ISO-HEET® Brand (red) is a premium water remover and injector cleaner. Like many things it's piece of mind. (y)
