I am expecting my new STS 2006 blue / cashmere , V8 4W with sun roof and HUD early December :) . Certainly with the HUD it will have the ACC , which I don’t think is very useful :banghead: .
I am concerned about the front grill look with the ACC black Cadillac emblem:bonkers: .
What do you suggest :Should leave the original black emblem , or replace the whole grill and forget about the ACC ? what do you think ?:hmm:

I think the ACC is not very useful. Can you change your order, or it is too late? So, if you can't, you should leave the emblem.

If you don't like the way it looks, I think you should replace it with the mesh grill (STS-V grill).

Will the ACC work correct with the V-grille? I'm not sure.

I think you should wait awhile an see if you like the ACC. You may find like me that it is a useful tool. I seam to use it more and more. I've also got use to the black emblem and like the way it stands out.

Well personal pref of course but I use my ACC daily. Of course I drive 36k+ a year so that certainly has something to do with it.

As for changing the grill. E&G does have a mesh grill that fits the ACC window as one option.

Also I haven't looked at the clearance but make sure that whatever you do will fit with the tranceiver still being mounted.

And finally, part of the ACC is the FCA (Forward Collision Avoidance) system. You lose that as well so will have to keep the cruise off all the time lest you be bugged by all the system warnings when the tranceiver is covered.

Good luck with your choice and let us know what you do.

P.S. - I have actually received two unsolicated favorable comments on the ACC window badge. People think it is unique and then when they hear you have a radar system go gaga. At least in my case.

Thank you guys for your comments , I guess I will leave it for a while before having the answer if the ACC is usefull or not .
One thing for sure , my STS will be unique cause I knew from my dealer that this is the only car in my country with ACC , it was ordered specially for me and all the cars the dealer is importing are without ACC:bouncy:

I have changed my factory grill to a mesh chrome grill that came pre-cut for the ACC receiver. My dealer removed the factory grill and installed the new grill with receiver, it makes the front end look very attractive. I too did not think that i would use the ACC, but let me tell you, i use it more than i do not. Once you get use to adjusting the GAP settings, you'll find it very handy. If you decide to do the same, make sure the installer sets the receiver straight before securing in the new grill.

The other interesting thing with the ACC is that if you leave it on, it provides a type of crash avoidance warning. If the computer thinks you are going to hit something in your lane of travel, computed by your speed and the object's speed, it beeps and flashes an icon in the HUD. It also lets you know if an object is within 100 feet of your front end, which could be potentially helpful in dark and/or foggy weather.

Now i understand what other owners mean when they say thay can't wait to drive the car again and again - only one thing that i cannot understand , how come the sunroof does not close Automatically when we shut the engine down while it was a feature in my 1998 STS ????????????????????????????:tisk: :want: :thepan:

GM removed the "auto" close feature for the windows and sunroof as well as the trunk closer. It has been speculated that this was for liability reasons although nothing official has been published that I'm aware of.

Enjoy your new ride!!!

That crash avoidance ACC feature has saved me from an accident on the highway when I was momentarily distracted. The insistent loud beeping got me to brake the car to avoid the collision. That one event paid for the cost of the ACC.
