Re: AC turns cold then hot please help

Sounds like the refrigerant level is a tad low and the compressor is short-cycling. Open the hood, start the engine, A/C - listen at the front (passenger side) of the engine - compressor short-cycling?

Take it to a good local A/C shop. It's not just a simple off-the-shelf can refill .............

yep, let a shop with proper gauges check it out. Beware of the refrigerant cans at the local parts store. Having too much refrigerant in the system is as bad (or worse) than having too little.

The system holds 2.2 lbs or 35.2 ounces. Me personally on a older car if it blows warm, I let all the freon out then go to the store and put in the appropriate amount. In your case let it out and put in just about 3 cans (12 oz each). Were I live they are $6 bucks a can for 134a. I know people here are dead against this but it never failed me yet.

For a quick down and dirty check, place you hand on the A/C inlet pipe on the fire wall and then on the outlet pipe. They should both be cold. If the outlet pipe is warmer, you are low on refrigerant. I would agree that you will probably find that is the case.
