I fixed my AC by getting a used clutch connecter from the junk yard and when I installed it everything worked perfect for a few days. But it won't turn on agian and I retraced the wires and everything is connected good. if the diode goes out will it stop the clutch from engaging? I replaced the connecter and diode with the one from the junk yard. Could my compressor be blowing the diode. Still no codes and compressor starts with a hot wire. All help is appreciated thanks

If it blows the diode again you probably have a bad clutch coil that is intermittent, vibration is causing bad connections this causes large voltage spikes from coil in compressor and blows the diode.
open up connector and install new diode. IN4001 50V or IN4004 400V all rated 1 amp note the direction band on diode should be on the positive wire inside terminal. Diode is just used to snub the high reverse EMF from the compressor coil during the collapsing magnetic field when power is removed. I would pull compressor and replace the solenoid coil on the compressor it probably has bad or shorted windings. Also replace the AC compressor relay just in case it has a faulty coil or pitted contacts.
