Need to change AC compressor, massive squealing, obviously the bearing gone, 56000 miles and already failed, so its rear suspension compressor, spare deployment, and need to do a spark plug tube seal change (which means all 4 and cam shaft cover gasket) Freon will be a additional charge with labor. If you divide the miles with the years you get 7000 miles a year, A decent car would require nothing more then oil level checks @ 7000 miles a year, I can only imagine this trucks cost with 100,000 miles!:rant2: It burns me up every time I want to do some extra things a 3-500 dollar parts only DIY repair pops up. Now this has taken money from the vacation kitty, now I know I am not taking a road trip with this truck.

600 dollars to replace unit and recharge and service with documentation, not including the new AC compressor, unfortunately this is not a DIY for me. Considering trade-in/sell after repairs.

Fixed 925 dollars total cost, reduced vacation 3 days because of repairs costs! No BBQ grill this year either. I have learned now, one has to put money aside to keep a SRX running. When the truck was lifted we removed the bottom splash guard under the engine, the plastic was soaked in power steering fluid, the power steering pressure hose is leaking at the crimps, the side closest to the plastic guard, cost is cheap 50 dollar part via rock auto, but this is not a show stopper. Just another add on to the parts lists!!!!!!!!!!

You're just having a terrible time with your SRX which seems to have been abused quite a bit before you obtained it.

Thanks for trying to me feel better about SRX, but this was a one owner car previously, has GM maintenance history, and just drove it to work and back, hence the low miles ( I think he read this froum or got good advice or a gut feeling, time to get rid of it). Unfortunately its the quality of the GM parts, that ruined my enthusiasm. Every part I am facing is poor quality and design (for what this truck cost new). Has the AC compressor gone out on my wife's 2000 VW, my daughters 97 Suzuki, NO, power steering hose leaks, No, sagging radiators, No. I mean look at the thread "water in rear jack compartment" no way should a truck this price new or used be leaking water inside through manufacturer quality and design.

It is time to trade it off.
That is what I did as soon as it was out of warranty.

Yeah, been looking at V....vo's. safer, better quality, reliable and most important low forum complaints (tried 3 different forums worldwide) parts are no more expensive and just as easy to shop online and DIY able, however for me I am not buying nothing under 2011. I tried USA built but it proved disappointing) and nothing without warranty. But I should not plug another brand on a another brands forum. Sorry to whom it concerns

My compresser failed at around 55k also as a result of low freon(per the mechanic). It sent steel shavings through the system resulting in a new comp.,new cond., and adding a filter in the system to the tune of $1200. No problems since at 78k.

Yes the specialist for the post installation of the compressor also recommended/did a pressure flush of all lines(in case of debris) and provided documentation of test and Freon, quite a complicated process, if it goes out and you want it installed correctly, hence a specialist AC shop.
