My eldo 97 stopped cooling. The compressor was coming on but high and low sides were both close to 150psi. Assuming it is orfice tube issue, changed the orfice tube. While recharging from the low side port, I just added only 12 oz R134a (the capacity is 30 oz), the low side pressure reached about 50 psi. I was not measuring high side at that time. I thought that since low shoud not be so high, I stopped charging any further. I was talking to a friend who thinks the low side pressure will go high as we add freon. As we add further to capacity like another 18 oz, the low side pressure will then get down to say 35 psi or so. Any idea please if with increasing the freon, the low side pressure will first increase and then decrease?

Thanks
Anwer

I did not pull a vacum before charging. Is it really a must to pull vacuum?

Thanks

If you don't pull a vacuum, there is moisture in the system. A vacuum boils it out. The moisture freezes and causes blockage. That COULD be your problem.
