Hello friends. Having an issue and desperately need some information. I went to pick up my 2005 CTS V yesterday from the shop. The mechanic installed my longtube kooks headers and Monster stage 2 clutch with the upgraded 18 lb flywheel with bullet release. Pedal felt good and exhaust sounded awesome. Realized after a few minutes that the ac wasn't working. The mechanic said the ac belt jumped off and they put it back on and it jumped off again. I was looking for advice for this issue. Could it be the 18 lb flywheel throwing off the harmonic balancer or a bad install ? Mechanic said I didn't drive it before I worked on it. I was like really. 91k and I've been driving this car for over 4 years almost every day since it had 40k on the clock. I didn't accept delivery of the car after 10 minutes of arguing. Driving the owners truck now. Any thoughts ? Thanks in advance.

Misaligned pulley or improper belt tension(er) somewhere.

Welcome to the Funny Farm !!!

Surely, in your area, there must be a good automotive shop !!! You ever get over to Sherrills Ford ? Cousins there.

Hard to understand why a flywheel/clutch would affect a belt - at the other end of the crankshaft.

Where I'm going is a misaligned, missing, faulty belt pulley or tensioner on the front of the engine.

Just figured that the lighter 18 lb flywheel is having an issue with the harmonic balancer keeping it balance. The original stock flywheel was close to 30 lbs. I really can't figure it out myself. All I know is my ac worked fine and 2 days later after transmission was pulled and new clutch and flywheel were installed, now ac belt won't stay on. I'm not a mechanic or anything, just trying for some answers here. Lol. I appreciate your thoughts nonetheless. Thank you

Check the bolt to the crank pulley. Check the rubber on the stock pulley. It is probably separating. At your mileage i would change it anyways. It is a very common issue with the v1. I highly doubt it has anything to do with the new install.

Sounds good. I definitely appreciate it. probably just my luck that it happened the same time as my clutch and flywheel upgrade. Mechanic is definitely knowledgeable, just figuring maybe jacking up on it while pulling the transmission damaged it. But I'm glad to hear that it's a common issue on these cars. Thanks again for your time. I really appreciate it.
