I checked it out earlier it has just over 100k miles the check engine light wasnt on at first, only had it idling in the driveway, so I tried to check out the rear back up assist, I let it idle forward a few feet and then put it in reverse with another car behind it and no beeps or lights notified me of it and I was within 5 feet. Is it broken or did I do it wrong? If its broken is it an expensive fix?

After letting it idle a little I have it some revs not high but just to hear the engine and when the rpm came back down it dipped a bit lower than idle and it seemed like it might need a tune up or something like it was not super close to stalling but the the rpms went just under 500rpm.

Anything else I should be looking for?

Thanks about to run to the bank tomorrow morning.

The urpa system has a bad sensor(not sure as to the cost)or off

The engine idle may be because of the throttle body needing cleaning

I think I hear a little grinding vibrating noise I think from the front, how can I diagnose the front diff? He said he put a wheel bearing on the truck bc he thought it was why the abs light is on but he now thinks its a rear wheel speed sensor.

With the abs light on will that prevent me from turning the stability control on or off, I hit the button to see if its operational but it did nothing.

Would that also prevent the back up assist from working too?

You need to get the truck checked out by a mechanic and have them scan the truck for codes in the ABS system. As for the vibration you should get it checked it also to make sure the diff is fine and doesn't need a rebuild.

A wheel sensor can cause the abs to act up and prevent the stability system from working the park assist is a separate system which has its own test mode

I'm buying it from a small dealer it will have a 30 day warranty but when I heard the grinding noise he was like its the tires since they are a little aggressive... But I thought its not that.

This truck sounds like a basket case with a lot of little issues. Tires don't cause grinding aggressive tread or not. There is something deeper within the diff if its doing that and if they blaming the tires I would start to walk away from the deal, and find something else. It's obvious they didn't do thorough inspection if its having issues on the lot. The 30 day warranty doesn't leave me with any piece of mind. You don't want to inherit someoneelses problem.

It's not a loud noise, it's just a small kinda rotating noise. The deal is good enough that I might buy it and if its the diff ill fix it myself.

Do the diffs actually fail or are they just noisy? Maybe ill see if they will change the diff fluid in front of me so I can see if the magnet has a lot of debris.

It can be the front diff or it can be the tranny low on fluid(that what was wrong with mine I added some fluid and the whine went away) check the tranny fluid(work the tranny from first back to park then check the fluid level(that's how I do it) if its low add some

Sounds like a basket case to me.

If it's so cheap as to be a good deal after you sink $2000-$3000 into it for repairs then it might be worth your while. Ask yourself though, is it worth it after all the potential repairs are added into the cost of purchase? If no, then walk away and find one a little more expensive that doesn't have warning lights and broken equipment.

I bought mine about $4000 below normal market cost because it did need some work, but it was all work I can do myself and doesn't involve failures of the electronics. Mine simply has a worn suspension which I'm working on myself for about $1000 in parts and my time in labor. At $4000 under market in my area for one of these was worth my time to fix.

At over 100K miles it's going to need quite a bit of maintenance. The at the very least, the suspension is likely worn out (including those expensive shocks).

Well they said they changed te fuel filter and now the check engine light is off, but I didn't get to pick it up yet bc they said they need to drive it to reset the monitors and make sure the check engine light is sorted out. I can fix most thing I'd rather not have to fix the front diff though, but I've had a very hard time finding EXTs.

Also said the fuse for the abs was removed so that's why that light stayed on even after the wheel bearing was fixed, so now they replaced the fuse and that's fixed too.

I would want to be sure and have them scan for codes while I watch(I watch them whenever I have my truck in the dealer the service manager is cool about it though as long as I don't do anything stupid)

Why? It doesn't take that long for the ECM to find something wrong? Ill have a 30day warranty if the check engine light comes on they'll have to fix it, but I could also have a friend scan the codes so I know what's wrong to make sure they really fix it.
