Re: Need help with oil cooler
Any updates on this, what's the difinitive answer for the cooler setup WITH Kooks headers ???
If I'm reading all the threads correctly: Either a Remote Filter adapter or PISSNUOFF's setup which consists of an adapter plate with -8 fittings
I think -10AN is the way to go. I'm going to end up using a spin-on take-off adapter, which actually has -12AN ports pointing straight down, with 12-to-10 adapters off of that, then a remote filter mount and thermostat somewhere else - probably in the fenderwell, as crankedupforit did it.
Any luck on the TPIs adapter and Kooks working ?
I did some test fitting with the TPIS adapter and I think it's a no-go with Kooks. It does physically fit, but there's
very little room to route hoses anywhere. I tried a couple of different fittings (I've accumulated quite the collection of -10AN swivel fittings

) and I'm just not comfortable with how close the hose and/or fittings would be to the headers.
While the Improved Tuning part may provide more clearance between the adapter and the header, I don't think it will address the fact that you've still got to run the hoses somewhere, and the headers don't leave much in the way of options. About the most promising setup I tried was a 90deg and a 120deg fitting. Keeping in mind the engine mount would be in the foreground, you can see that the 90deg would be point right towards the engine mount (and bending the line to avoid the mount would move it closer to the header), and the 120deg is sandwiched between the pan rail and header with less than 1/4" space (unsatisfactory).
Trying to route the hoses back instead of forward won't work, because the header and tranny will be in the way, which you can kind of get a feel for in this pic:
