Two months into hunting for a used M6 wagon and I'm starting to lose it. There are however a number of autos around for very reasonable prices.

Is converting an auto to manual even a possibility or am I being delirious?

It would literally be easier and cheaper to buy a manual wagon out of state and have it shipped to you. I bought mine from a dealer across the country, shipping cost about $1200. Same reason, there were very few manual wagons available at the time. Here's an example.

Then they're a bunch of fat liars. But the point still stands, it's vastly cheaper and easier to buy a used manual Vagons out of state, even across the country, and just have it shipped to you than it would be to do an auto > manual conversion.

It'd also be cheaper to just buy new/order than to do a GOOD auto to manual conversion.

Of course, with enough money, anything is possible.

Heh yes I was fooled by that one also. I even called to confirm they didn't switch up interior photos.. Alas no.
I definitely have no qualms buying out of state though. Did you fly out to inspect or buy site unseen?

I'd love to buy new, and the wife has given that the go-ahead (so I stop talking about it I suspect) but I'm a cheap bastard and just can't justify it. These things drop nearly a buck a mile until 20k on the clock.

I've determined the same thing... lucky for me I'm looking for something a little less hard to find, but from all the research I've done, you can get a relatively low mile 12 model for almost $20k less than new. I'll gladly take one less year of warranty for that price; given how well most people take care of cars like this, chances are you'll get a good as new car.

I bought sight unseen. They were selling it certified with the extended warranty though, so it made sense to me that they wouldn't be selling it like that if it were riddled with problems. As it turns out mine did develop a number of problems, but none were really detectable or existent when I bought (I suspect some of them were caused by mistreatment by its original owner and took a while to show up) it so even if I had the chance to inspect it first I wouldn't have found anything wrong with it.

And the fact is, everything that's gone wrong on mine so far has been covered and repaired under the standard 4 year/50k mile warranty. So generally speaking I wouldn't worry about that, the only thing a personal inspection might reveal are flaws in the paint, stuff like that. Anything else you can get fixed through the warranty.

OK I am convinced . No conversion, stick out the search and keep scouring various sites for a used M6 which I will buy sight unseen. I don't even care what color at this point (although a fully loaded Black Diamond is my dream), the only thing I can't budge on is the Titanium interior.

I've owned nothing by GM cars (I'm a Holden man) so well versed in the first year of constant warranty claims - but also very confident they do sort everything out in the end.
