Hello all,

After doing some research and doing some searching, I may have found something out. It appears that the Nav units read DVD-Audio. So you technically could create a DVD-Audio disc out of MP3s, and get almost the same storage as a MP3 DVD. Has anyone tried this? The main reason Im interested is because MP3 CDs take forever to load, and switch songs, and I was hoping this would be quicker, and have a bunch of songs on it.

DVD-Audio is a DVD that contains songs recorded in 5.1 surround, and at higher bit rates. I don't know how you could create a DVD-A disk with MP3s.

I have 6 DVD-A disks loaded in my STS, and they sound amazing. They contain 5.1 soundtracks that really demonstrate the capabilities of the STS Bose 5.1 system.

I see. I do believe using a DVD program however, you can convert MP3s to a DVD-Audio format. Obviously it will not be as high quality as your DVD-Audio discs made specifically for that purpose.

How many tracks are on a DVD-A?

The same as on a regular music CD. For example, I have the Metallica Black Album on DVD-A, and it has the same content as the CD.

Keep in mind the tracks are not compressed like MP3, are recorded at a much higher bit rate, and contain surround sound data; therefore, they take up much more room than a track on a regular music CD.

All 6 of the DVD-A disks loaded in my STS mirror the soundtracks on the non-surround CD version.
