ok after calling the cadillac dealer for a price quote on valve guide seals and finding out they are 1400$ i decided to post here for some help before i make a decision. i am hoping i dont need valve guide seals...i only checked the price because i talked with a friend who is a mechanic and told him about the symptoms with my car which i explain in the post.

so it started a couple months ago when my service engine light came on. i pulled the code and it was a "knock sensor circuitry failure" . i didnt hear a knock and it didnt affect performance. i figured i needed a knock sensor and i would get that done this month for inspection. so i got my oil changed at good year about 6 weeks ago shortly after the knock sensor code was thrown. i told them specifically only to put 7.5 quarts in with the new filter..which was what they had in the computer anyway. so a couple hundred miles after my oil change the MAP sensor started going off. the MAP sensor goes off when i have warmed the car up and driven for a little while. especially when my car is low on gas and its hot outside. it is consuming oil at a very high rate also..about a quart every 350 miles. it was consuming oil at a quart every 800 miles before the oil change.

since the map sensor has been going off i have a few other codes getting thrown aswell. they are in history and dont show any signs while i am driving. i believe they are all connected to the MAP sensor being thrown. the car is at the shop right now getting looked over for everything i will need for inspection. if it will be this much just for the MAP sensor problem i may have to retire her to the junkyard :( the serpentine belt went when i was driving to the shop yesterday also haha...

any help is very much appreciated...thanks

yes i have. not recently, thats why i posted because i read about the overfill causing the oil to get pushed into the pcv line and that works with the MAP..so i thought maybe an overfill could be my problem.. like i said it was a quart of oil every 800 miles before my oil change.

Don't misunderstand overfilling. "Oil" does not get pushed through the PCV so to speak. The crankshaft counterweights will contact the oil and sling it into a mist which gets sucked into the PCV. Exactly how much overfilled it takes to do this I am not sure. A quart per 800 is considered normal, though on the high end limit. Have you done the WOT to see if that helps?

yes i do regular WOT. the oil is almost definately getting sucked in the pcv because of the map sensor going off. i will be getting a compression test most likely after i find out how much everything else will be for inspection.

spark plugs are clean no burning oil! didnt even have to do the compression test. a little seepage from the rear main seal which i knew. i do have an oil cooler line leak though...and i need a knock sensor which i already knew. i never knew 600$ could sound like such a deal! lol.. some other good news - this was the second mechanic that looked at my heads and said they were newer. i was worried about future head gasket failure but not anymore :)

when i get my car back i wrote down the codes that came up. i will post them in this thread. the only current code was p132 which is a knock sensor circuitry failure. there were maybe 5 other codes though that were in history.

ok so i got my car back the knock sensor was replaced and codes were reset. the service engine light is off. the only current code i had before i replaced the knock sensor was:
P132 (E132) ......................................... Knock Sensor Circuitry Failure

i had most of the same ones i do now in history.
all my codes now are in history, but i am still having an intermittent MAP sensor problem, the problem occurs when i try to floor the gas from a stop or accellerate fast to merge on the highway. it even happens sometimes when just cruising along at 75. the engine stutters, rpms going up and down. as if it wants to stall out. the check engine light will blink on then off again and the codes always show up as history...here they are
P032 (E032) ................................................. Open MAP Sensor Signal
P052 (E052) ....................................................... PCM Memory Reset
P071 (E071) ................................................ Intermittent MAP Signal
P095 (E095) .................................................. Engine Stall Detected
P109 (E109) ....... Keep Alive Memory (KAM) Reset/PCM has lost primary battery power
P132 (E132) ......................................... Knock Sensor Circuitry Failure
I052 ....................................................... Keep Alive Memory Error

as always any help is greatly appreciated
